This might get awkward.
I’ll admit, some of my clients get all flushed and sweaty when I ask them this question. Their eyes go shifty, their cheeks get pink, and they stumble over their words. Sometimes, they even get mad at me 😩
But I’ll take a risk and ask you anyway because it’s a big deal.
Okay, here we go.
➝ Who is your dream customer?
Your dream customer is the person your marketing efforts target, the person for whom you created your product or service. Maybe it does feel a bit personal to describe that persona because it feels like you’re revealing something about yourself or your business.
If you’ve been a business owner for a while, you can probably describe your customer persona in your sleep.
And if you can’t? Well, that’s probably for one of two reasons:
You don’t know how to find your dream customer.
— Or —
You think you don’t need to define one.
I can help solve the first concern and I’ll do my best to solve the second. (Pssst: You definitely need to define your ideal customer, and not just because it’s going to help immensely with what’s coming next. Check out the end of the article 👇 for some tips and tools you can use to define your dream client.
👉 Understanding to whom you are selling will guide how you do your selling. 👈
That’s the key to market research… and market research is the key to successful sales. Market research tells you exactly what your customers want to hear and how they want to hear it.
📲 Your mission, should you choose to accept it**, is to answer this question:
If you were only allowed to advertise to ONE person in the whole world, what would they be like? Describe their name, age, occupation, location, interests, and shopping habits in detail. Include any relevant information that would make it easy to advertise to them.
This question can help you determine your ideal customer and help you with market research.
