Your brand is the most valuable asset you have. It is the perception that customers have about you when they hear your name. It’s the impression of your product or service that goes a long way towards gaining new customers and growing your business.

The content you create and put out there is what will establish your online presence and build your brand, especially important in a saturated web. Content is a great way to reach your target customers, encourage engagement, build awareness and drive traffic to your website.

Content has become the driving force in the digital marketing space. Here are a few of my favorite ways to create content to build your brand:

Blog Articles: Publishing articles online shows your audience that you are knowledgeable and with consistency you can quickly become known as an expert in your field. Since Google refreshes often it’s important you are putting out new content often; Google loves new information. When selecting blog topics it’s important that you are writing about things your customers want to know or read about; not necessarily what you have to say about yourself.

Be Social: Social media is about being social and engaging with others. First, you want to share images and video of what’s going on behind the scenes. Being transparent with your audience builds trust and confidence making them comfortable to buy from you when the time is right. However, you can’t just post and run. It’s important you are dedicating time and attention to commenting on their posts, responding to questions and comments about your business and working hard to engage with others.

Curate:  Content curation is about finding other related articles on the web and sharing those links as a post or excerpt. You can’t take articles from the web and publish without permission but you can share them. This shows that you are knowledgeable about what’s going on in your industry and it helps you become the go-to place for all the information. If you have an opinion, share it. Don’t hate on the competition, instead operate with integrity and always treat others with respect.

Your Website: Online when shopping for products or services consumers will immediately check out the website. Your first investment should be in a professional, functional and attractive website. If the page doesn’t load, is difficult to find information or has poor content and written works you will ruin your credibility. If you don’t take your business seriously, why should anyone else?

Remember, anytime you publish a text, photo or video you are representing your brand. Those brands with the most success are able to think from the mindset of their customer and align their priorities and activities accordingly. Each activity and investment should center around building your brand. Those are the efforts that result in success.
